8/18 Meeting Minutes

Had a great first meeting for the fall.  Discussed activities that occured since our June meeting as well as future plans for this fall.  Below are notes from the meeting

• Activities since last meeting
• We took care of food for family fun nights in June.
• Went to Firehouse homeless shelter and did a days work, cutting grass and painting an apartment.
• Went to Barrons game
• Cooked 200 hotdogs and provided 15 cases of water for Prayer in Park.
• Discussed trailers, the group is re-commited to getting the trailers ready for use.  We are shifting gears to get the trailers ready as soon as possible.  Focus will be to finish up electrical which is almost done, give them a good cleaning on the inside, paint the outside and get some steps built to gain access.  2 work days are scheduled for Saturday 8/24 and 8/31.
• Discussed need to get grass cut if it ever stops raining.
• We are going to sale the griddle as is to recoup money invested.  It was brought up in the last admin meeting that we are required to have a hood and that we need to get a hood or remove the griddle.  Hood is not in the budget at this time, so we are going to sale the griddle.  One of the burners thermostat needs replacing.  I believe we can sale it for 500 as is.  Will put on craigslist ASAP.
• We are going on a fishing trip to the Gulf.  10/4-10/6.  Plans are not definite yet need to get a firm number to get specifics.  Passed out a signup sheet, 9 people signed up.  More details to come via email.
• Hosting CHS football team for steak dinner on 10/17.  Need funds and man power to make this happen.
• Carnival 10/31 will be handling food and drinks.
• Turkey fundraiser on 11/20, will work with mission team on giving turkeys to needy families.
• Ham fundraiser on 12/23, asked Bill Scholl to check on Montevallo smoker, without it we can't do the hams.
• Discussed hosting auto maintenance workshop for youth (and anyone else interested).  Working with Bryan on a date in November that will work.
• Reaching out to the CHS band to host them at the church for a meal.
• Also reaching out to CHS basketball team.
• Mentioned buying Calera First umbrellas for the men to walk people to and from cars on rainy Sundays.  
• Mentioned small groups that might interest the men folk.  Bible study 5:00 Sundays, courageous during Sunday school, and Love/Respect Sundays 3-4:30.
